The South Valley Initiative (SVI) operates in the southern portion of the Red River Basin that includes the Wild Rice River beginning in South Dakota and flowing into North Dakota, entering the Red River just south of Fargo, ND.
The SVI also includes the Lake Traverse area including MN, ND, and SD stakeholders. This group meets quarterly and this past year has been studying maps of the area to discuss hydrology and flooding issues.
The SVI has been briefed on the Fargo southside project and have been following the efforts by the US COE related to flood reduction strategies as well as touring the North Ottawa Project by the Boise de Sioux Watershed District.
