"Rivers Divide and Rivers Unite – Together Again in 2022"
January 11-13, 2022
With a mix of Attendees,
in person and virtual,
we all enjoyed
a very successful
RRBC Annual Conference!!
We enjoyed three days jam-packed with an amazing group of speakers and presentations covering a wide variety of topics!
Our Keynote Speaker,
Dana Starkell, kicked off the event with his presentation; "Paddle to the Amazon - Crossing the Divide".
He shared so many stories with us from a two-year
canoe trip with his father through 13 countries from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Brazil!
Presentations from a wide variety of Success Stories were shared during our Lightning Talks - such amazing work happening in the Red River Basin!
A very informative 2022 Flood/Drought Outlook was shared.
A panel of virtual and in-person presenters worked together
to share an excellent hybrid presentation "Drought Recap and Water Supply Working Group Update".
Over the three days, many RRBC Partners and Individuals
doing research in the basin all shared updates on their activities accomplished in the Red River Basin.
Our last day included a very moving Indigenous Water Blessing led by Elder Mary Morin, "White Butterfly Woman", from the
Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa in North Dakota.
This year's recipient of the Water Management Leadership Award was presented during the Conference. We are very pleased to share that the award goes to Jim Ziegler!
